DIY Interior Shutters – Stylish

Interior window shutters, also known as plantation or louvre shutters, provide a stylish alternative to window blinds and curtains. There are several advantages, the main ones being that they allow you to control privacy and light. In addition to blinds allowing all-over tilting, they allow the tilting of individual sections of louvres to suit personal preferences.

Solid Shutters

Solid shutters are like the Victorian basic wooden panels of shaped wood, hinged to fold to one side and completely cover the window when shut.  These are also known as Shaker style.

Shaped Shutters

The options for bespoke shapes include circle, triangular and arched to suit every shape of window.  Via request we shape them to exactly match the shape of your specific window.

Basswood Shutters

Light in weight and with a delicate grain, these are ideal for staining and for large or shaped openings.  You can add the remote control option, and solid shutter panels can also be made from Basswood.  They are engineered for strength, and I believe are one of the best shutters currently on the market.

Cedar Shutters

Made from solid cedar, these offer a beautiful finish as they can be stained or oiled.  They are light-weight so ideal for large openings, and are perfect if you prefer a natural looking finish.  Plantation, solid, shapes and arches are all available in Cedar.  The remote control option can also be added to Cedar.

Plastic Shutters – New and More Durable

Plastic, also called ABS, are ideal for rooms that may be damp such as the kitchen and bathroom.  They are hardwearing and can be wiped-down.  They look the same as other plantation shutters once fitted, so will match as they have a high quality finish, but are designed to be more durable.  They are ideal for rooms where they may need to be cleaned easily or withstand higher temperatures and moisture levels.

Remote Control Shutters – For ‘Difficult to Reach Windows’

Ideal for windows that are not within easy reach, such as over stairs or in a large property, remote control plantation shutters allow you to alter the louver position from one small remote control.  These are also great for those who just want to be able to alter the louver position without having to leave the comfort of the sofa or their bed!  The remote control shutter allows you to alter the louvre position and adjust the amount of light entering your home without having to reach the shutter itself, and has a series of pre-set louvre positions.  All of which can be programmed to operate from one remote in each room.  

Shuttermatch Blinds – New to Match Your Shutters

There is now a woodslat blind in the same finish as your plantation shutters so that you can perfectly match them if you prefer to have a blind in one of your rooms.  Shuttermatch blinds are of a very high quality, with smooth operation and a tight slat closure.
