Metal Crittal windows need battens fitted around the window recess as you cannot screw your DIY interior shutters into the metal frames. The battens will also space the shutter doors away from the window handles so that when you adjust the louvre blades they do not hit the handles. The battens create a wooden sub frame onto which you can then fit the shutter frame, as this makes it really easy to fit your DIY interior shutters.
