Sliding sash windows are the easiest to fit DIY window shutters onto due to the large flat wooden surround. With sash windows you can fit flush to the wall with a decorative architrave surrounding them, or set back in the recess like a normal casement window. They are also very common in Victorian bay windows.
The style of the wooden surround can vary, but fitting is very similar for all styles. You will have decided on where to fit the frame when you measured up. Fitting will be slightly different than from the DIY easyfit kit instructions as there is no recess to use the wedges in other than the window sill.
