Shutter size (for bays, shapes or outside recess fittings)
If you have made your own allowance and your measurements are the exact shutter frame size then select ‘Shutter size’ no deductions will be made.
The ‘shadow gap’ is the secret to fitting shutters, it allows the shutter frame to fit easily into the window recess because of the clearance gap between the wall/architrave and the shutter frame.
This allows you to adjust the shutters left/right and up/down to obtain the perfect fit.
This is a very important part of ordering the shutters so make sure you understand how the shutters will fit allowing for the clearance.
The shadow gap guides the eye towards the shutters, so the actual gap is not as obvious.
This method is often used when fitting built-in furniture and does not require covering or filling.
Shutter size
Make sure you have allowed enough clearance when ordering the exact shutter frame size. The shutters are not designed to be cut or planned to size.
I have very rarely come across a square window. It is only when trying to fit something square in the window that you realise how far out the sides and window sill really were.
So do not worry wonky walls and plaster work is very normal. This becomes less obvious if you allow for a larger shadow gap.
