A survey for fitted window shutters is the visit we make to your home for you to get the professionally finished product you want by:
We will arrange for an experienced local fitter to contact you. We have fitters who cover London and a very wide surrounding area, Hertfordshire, Essex, Sussex, Hampshire and Surrey.
The local fitter will make contact by telephone or email to understand your requirements. During that call the fitter will ask you for your window sizes, if they were not on your initial request, so that they can provide you with an initial estimate for fitted window shutters. If you are happy with this the fitter will then book a convenient time to visit and complete a detailed survey.
If our fitted service is over your budget you could consider the DIY option. It’s easier than you may think. Sam will be happy to advise and support you by telephone, using a photo upload service, and by giving tips on measuring and fitting. See our DIY section for more information or call Sam Tel: 0844 858 4025.
During the Window Shutter Survey
The fitter who carries out your survey will offer expert advice and work with you to plan the design and layout for the look you want to achieve, including providing advice and showing you samples of louver size, folding and number of panels. This will include advising on which options will affect price.
The fitter will be happy to talk to you about their experience of fitting, and previous work they have undertaken.
You can view a selection of samples, colours, louvre blade sizes and finishes at your survey. Our Elite shutter is one of the most popular with our fitted customers and fitters, for detailed information on materials you can also view the Shutter section.
Detailed measurements will be taken of your windows to ensure the shutters you select fit perfectly. Horizontal and vertical measurements are taken from several places across each window as few windows are exactly square. We allow a small clearance gap, called a shadow gap, to take account of any bumps or uneven recess surfaces.
It will help your fitter if you clear the window area of any obstructions and make sure that any window coverings can be lifted or pulled back out of the way prior to the start of the survey, so that the fitter can easily access the window recess to measure.
If you have bay, shaped or a number of windows it may take some time for the fitter to take all the measurements required, please ensure you allow plenty of time for the survey.
Your fitter will be able to tell you about timescales for fitting and lead times.
Quote
At the survey the fitter will give you a full and final quote for fitted shutters. If you have requested specialist items the fitter is unable to price on the day, they will usually re-contact you within 2 days with a final quote.
Ordering your fitted window shutters
You can order during your survey, and when you place your order you will be required to pay in full. This is because all our products are made to measure and manufacturing can start in as little as 2 hours of you placing your order. You should also check the details of your order before your fitter leaves. The fitter will agree with you how payment will be made, as payments can be made in cash, by cheque, card or BACS.
Your fitter will also book your fitting date and time, as the fitter who completes your survey will also return to fit.
You can request a survey for window shutters by completing a survey request form or ringing Sam Tel: 0844 585 4025.
