Watch sam on 60min makeover in Yorkshire

You can see me in action on ITV’s 60 Minute Makeover show on 20th November 2007 at 2pm with presenter Terri Dwyer from Hollyoaks, Grange Hill and The Games, and Craig from Big Brother who also works on the show.

www.opennshut.co.uk provided shutters in Huddersfield, and the show includes an interview with me!  I was thrilled that the ITV team asked me to supply shutters for their show again, as I have worked with them on a number of occasions, including shows where I have supplied products that their team have easily been able to install and previous interviews.  I know they value the service that I have been able to provide, including supplying them with products for their show at short notice.

I have worked with the designer, John Amabile, before.  In fact I have supplied John with shutters for his own customers.  For this show I knew that John wanted a modern look, and he requested I provide shutters for a window and patio door.  I designed the layout of the shutters around the existing layout of the windows. This meant having 3 shutters across the window and 4 shutters across the patio door.  This is so that the shutters look good from the inside as you won’t see the window struts and from the outside they mirror the layout of the windows and doors looking extremely smart.

I was able to order all the shutters in advance of the show with the help of Simon, the subject of the show.  He uploaded photos to my website so that I was able to offer him advice on how and where to measure.  This is how I help all my DIY shutter customers to ensure a trouble free installation, as I am able to view their windows so I can tailor my advice to suit their specific requirements.  I have confidence in helping customers over the phone, as I have been doing this for a considerable time and trained as a cabinet maker and joiner.  I know that I am able to explain things in a way that customers can understand – even if they have never had plantation shutters before.

Simon was delighted with the customer-friendly website and personal advice he received.   Simon found measuring for his shutters was very straightforward once we had spoken on the phone and I had been able to view his windows.  With a few simple tips I was able to ensure that the shutters would fit perfectly, and give the look that John Amabile was aiming to achieve.   It was a pleasure to meet Simon on the day of the show to get his feedback.

I am sure that you will agree the results were fantastic, and Simon was thrilled with his shutters.  You can see photos of the makeover in my ‘Showroom’.

This is the 5th 60 Minute Makeover show that I have worked on, it’s an enjoyable event for all those who take part and great to be part of a team providing a fantastic new look for Simon’s home and his shutters in Huddersfield!
