HORIZONTAL RAIL
The horizontal middle rail can be added to your shutter design to add strength, match the window layout, or so that it sits in front of handles to provide extra clearance. The rail will divide the louvre blades in half allowing them to be operated independently either side of that middle rail to provide extra privacy.
Design tips on using rails:
- For a modern look, use hidden tilt and split the tilt rather than using a rail
- If there is a rail on the window or door, match it with a rail on the shutter
- Don’t put a rail in the shutter if the there is no rail on the window (unless over 1800mm)
Rails are required if shutters are over certain heights to keep them within their guarantee. You can choose to waive the guarantee and not order the rail, you might want to choose this options when your shutters are being fitted on doors that just have plain glass from top to bottom.
TECHNICAL INFORMATION
Horizontal rails are available for all types of shutters. If your order height is over a certain height, you will require a rail for strength.
Maximum panel heights:
- Standard MDF = Max panel height without rail:1879mm
- Standard LITE = Max panel height without rail:1981mm
- Standard PLUS = Max panel height without rail:1881mm
- Standard ABS = Max panel height without rail:1828mm
- Elite WOOD = Max panel height without rail:1981mm
- Elite Plus WOOD = Max panel height without rail:1981mm
From the height you provide, the position of the horizontal rail can vary by half a louvre to allow the maximum number of louvres per shutter height.
Rail Tolerance Sizes:
- For 47mm can be off by +/-19mm
- For 63mm can be off by +/-25mm
- For 76mm can be off by +/-31mm
- For 89mm can be off by +/-38mm
- For 114mm can be off by +/-51mm
Rails are 15.9mm thick x 76mm wide (21mm thick on ABS shutters)
Customised rail widths available for wooden shutters.
