This is my third blog about the DIY Deco frame, the first covered how to measure, the second how to assemble the frame and in this blog, I’ll show you how to install or fit the Deco frame.

Once the frame has been put together you will need to mark holes in the wall so you know where to drill. If you have a wooden recess you might not need to pre-drill any holes as it would be possible to screw the frame directly to the wall.
Lift the Deco frame into position on the window, you will need to ensure it overlaps the recess equally and is central to the window sill before marking your holes. Put a screw into the pre-drilled pilot hole and tap the end with a hammer to mark the wall. Do this all the way around and ensure the frame does not fall forward, you might find it easier to get a friend to help hold the frame in place.
You can then lift the frame down and start drilling your holes, one key thing to be careful of when drilling close to the edge of the recess is using the hammer action on your drill. I would not use the hammer action to start with and try angling the hole away from the recess slightly as you don’t’ want to end up cracking the bricks or plaster.
The next step is to lift the frame back into position so you can screw it back to the wall. Make any adjustments to the frame by moving it left/right etc to ensure the top and bottom of the shutter panels are level.
Once your happy with how the shutters open you can screw in the last hinge screw and then replace the insert strips to cover up all the screw holes.
