Last month my friend Kate visited the Ideal Home Show at Earls Court, London. Britain’s multi-award winning home event ran for its 103rd year from 11th-27th March and not only offered a unique shopping experience for those looking to make home improvements but also provided lots of DIY hints and tips, with exhibitions ranging from Ideal Interiors and Ideal Home Improvements to Ideal Housewares and Ideal Show Homes.
For those unsure which style they should choose the professionally designed room sets and show homes featured at the Ideal Home Show are always a winner. They reveal design and decorating solutions for everything from soft furnishings to shutters and blinds. This year there was even a replica of Coronation Street’s Rovers Return, which was a real hit with soap fans!
One of the highlights of this year’s Ideal Interiors was the Dulux Let’s Colour Studio. This gave visitors the opportunity to try out the tools that determine the perfect colours for their homes, whether they needed a lilac feature wall to compliment their sofa or the exact shade of yellow to brighten up their kitchen.
There was also plenty of advice at hand from celebrity interior designer Linda Barker and property TV presenter George Clarke. Remember, that I too can help you choose the style of interior shutters and window blinds that will best go with your decor and I’ll also advise on the best designs to suit your needs.
Linda Barker – The Ideal Interiors area of the show is being looked after by Linda Barker, providing the very latest trends in interior design. If you’re looking for those finishing touches or some inspiration, then make sure you catch Linda who will be appearing in the How To Theatre.
Linda Barker trained as a fine artist before becoming an interior designer. She began writing features for leading interiors and women’s magazines in the late 1980’s before her big break on BBC’s Changing Rooms. She has since worked on numerous TV programmes while continuing to write for the national press and interior design magazines.
