There are quite a few different types of window shutters on the market today. There are different materials, louvre sizes, colour, shapes and sizes to choose from.
We can offer expert advice on the right kind of window shutter you should be looking at for your windows.
Here is a quick overview of some of the options you can choose from and some reasons why you should choose them.
Materials
If your looking for cheap window shutters then choose the Standard MDF shutter. MDF can be fitted on most small to medium size windows, it’s heavier than wood and not as strong so it’s not so suitable for doors or large windows. Wooden window shutters are the most popular, they have a spray finish so they are nice to touch and feel, they are strong and have more colour options and features to choose from such as remote control, custom colour and shaped options. If your looking a bathroom shutters, there is waterproof shutter available called ABS, these are great in the kitchen or bathroom as they can wiped clean and it does not mater if they get splashed.
Window designs
Shutters can be fitted onto most window shapes and designs. The great thing about window shutters is that you can match the layout of your window with the different sections of the shutter. This means you can make the shutter look part of the window design. Shutters look best left across the window, so it’s only the adjustable louvre blades you need to tilt to let the light in and out. You don’t have this design flexibility with blinds, they can only be fitted across the whole window, so make the most of being able to match the layout.
Louver sizes
There are 3 main louver sizes, they are measured across the width of the slat which is slightly curved, 47mm, 64mm and 89mm. The medium 64mm slat is the most poplar and will look good on small or large windows. You can see photos of all the different sizes on the website, compare them with each other or with blind sizes and view real life examples in the online showroom.
Shaped window shutters
Shutters can be curved or angled to suit most shaped windows. A shaped shutter looks fantastic, the detail in the shaped blades and the matching shaped outer frame are all machined perfectly to match the layout and design on your window. Shaped window shutters can even have remote control louvres, they can be painted or stained to match your interior decor. For the best design advice, please supply some photos of your window.
Window sizes
The size of the shutter panels can be customised to suit your window, it does not mater if it’s a small bathroom window, a large French Door or bay window. You can hinge shutter panels together so they can span a wide opening and match different sections on your window. Shutters can be supported by a top track allowing multiple shutters to be hinged and folded together across very wide openings. They can be supplied with a complete matching outer frame or just as panels only so you customise your installation.
