My third blog in this series is how to fit DIY shutters to a UPVC window. If you have measured correctly and fitted the battens around the window recess then you are ready to fit the shutters.
The shutters and frame arrive in separate boxes, assembling the frame are easy. The mitres are pre-cut and held together by interlocking keys that you tap in with a hammer. Once the frame is put together you can lift it into the recess and secure into place with the plastic wedges.
Unpack the shutters and place them in the frame. Hinge pins connect the frame and shutters together. You can then make sure everything is square and lines up and screw the frame to the battens.
Like my last two blogs, I have made a short video showing you how to fit the shutters, so it’s going to be much easier for you to watch the video than for me to explain everything word for word.
Each window can be different, so please register and upload photos of your windows if you would like some personal help measuring and designing DIY shutters for your windows.
