INSERT L FRAME
The L frame is named this way because its shaped like an ‘L’. The insert L frame is available in three different sizes, small, medium and large. The size and type you need will depend on the window style, louvre size and if there are any protruding handles.
The frame is designed to be fixed through the front of the frame straight into your window. It has a removable insert in the front that covers your screw holes. It’s quick and easy to fit as you can keep the shutters in the frame while it’s being screwed to the window, this makes aligning the shutter and frame up to the window much easier. Ideal for wooden casement or sash windows.
MEASURING – Insert L frames are measured to the edge of the outer frame, everything within this outer frame dimension is then calculated by the factory, apart from rail heights and Tposts.
FIXING – Insert L Frames come with pre-drilled holes they are supplied with PH2 60mm long screws and are fixed through the insert straight into your window.
FRAME MITRES – Frames are connected at the corners using interlocking Hoffman keys, we recommend screwing the mitres on wooden and ABS frames and glueing the mitres on MDF frames to provide extra strength and stop the corners slipping.
FITTING CLEARANCE – Typically we deduct 12mm from your recess sizes when using shadow gap, the final deduction will depend on how square or level the window is.
FRAME SIZES – There are 3 frames, with each size increase, it’s the back ‘light stop’ that is extended to create the different depths. The view from the front of the frame remains the same. The extra depth is required for larger louvres or getting over obstacles protruding from the window frame.
- Small frames are 46mm deep
- Medium frames are 60mm deep
- Large frames are 76mm deep
FRAME BUILDOUTS – Yes, available
FRAME CUTOUTS – Yes, available
