I have supplied internal shutters, also known as plantation shutters, to all sorts of people, from a range of backgrounds, professions and ages.
Shutters for New-Builds
Many of my more recent customers are buying new-build houses and require interior shutters for all their windows. They are looking for that modern styling that involves all windows matching when viewed from the outside.
Sometimes it’s a job to keep up with how many times they move! One customer had a pretty cottage in which solid shutters suitably added character to the kitchen window and louvred shutters upstairs to allow for suitable control of privacy and yet allowing in the light. They moved to a modern house newly built in a nearby village and chose louvred interior wooden shutters on all the windows – a really great look! Less than 2 years later they had moved into an apartment and wanted shutters again. They didn’t hesitate to contact opennshut.co.uk again having been so very happy with the previous 2 supplies of shutters. Once you have had shutters, you will never go back to curtains!
DIY Confident to Install Shutters
DIY customers will often order just one or two windows at first, to ensure they are happy about how easy it is to install internal shutters. They soon come back for more when they find out how easy it is to fit them.
Check out my youtube channel to see how easy it is.
Time To Suit
I have some customers who will find my website one day and order immediately or during the next day. They find all the advice they need online and order online.
Other customers need more in-depth help. They will spend several weeks going back and forth from website to windows, to me to the website, asking as many questions as they can to ensure they are measuring correctly. To be fair to these customers, they are the ones who generally have tricky windows that need that extra attention. In the past they would have had no choice but to pay for a professional shutter installation service, but now they gain the pride and considerable cost saving by taking the project on themselves as a DIY job.
Shutters For Any Window
I have yet to come across a window I can not fit shutters too. Customers come to me baffled as to where to start measuring and numerous questions on folding and style options. Using the photographs of their own windows, which they upload easily with a click on my website, I can quickly advise them in detail as to what is best and why for their bespoke requirements – putting their mind at ease instantly. It give me great pleasure when they are always thrilled with my service and the finished results.
So if you live ‘out in the sticks’ or are located where there is no local expert shutter company, then do not hesitate to consider ‘doing it yourself’ as DIY will be a good option for you.
Shutters – All UK Covered
I can help customers all over the UK due to my state-of-the-art online advice service and buying online website. It really is very simple. Just take digital photographs of your shutters and upload them to my website for expert advice. You can benefit my e-survey where I provide you via email/telephone calls, expert advice and guidance at your own convenience, rather than having to allow a competitor salesperson into your home… plus you save money in the process! I have helped people all over the UK measure and fit shutters on even the trickiest windows. There really is no need to have to allow a local salesperson to visit.
I have also helped a customer to build their own shutters, via instruction from me over the telephone. He asked for advice on how he could actually make some louvred shutters using his own timber, in order to fit his bedroom needs. After a lot of unnecessary effort and time spent on this project, he did just that and achieved making a set of shutters – a good attempt too, bearing in mind he did so in his small garden shed. Inevitably though, whilst he was very pleased with the finished result, he decided afterwards to order some of my ‘more professional’ shutters – a lot easier to click a few times to order online… and, of course, they operate and look much better!
One of my customers found a great use for shutters, albeit very unusual. They own a cattery and found that fitting shutters across their kitchen window and patio doors that they provided a perfect solution to keeping the cats inside, yet still allow the windows to remain open for suitable air-flow in and out. Shutters will do the same for any pets. All pet owners will acknowledge just how important it is to cool a room down on a hot day, but similarly there are occasions when it is equally as important to restrain the pet from getting out into the garden. So all pet owners out there, start spreading the word to help other pet owners!
Shutters for TV, Film & Theatre
I have supplied shutters for TV, Film/Movie sets and Theatre productions. Mostly known for appearances on ITV 60 Minute Makeover show. I have also supplied to Film Sets and theatre productions as the shutters look really effective when reflecting the right lighting effect!
A Female Thing
Most of my first-time customers who find my website appear to be women looking for shutters to improve their homes. They have an idea, often having seen them in a magazine spread or fitted in a friend’s house. They search online, looking to research the advice they need to make a decision. Once they come across opennshut.co.uk they realise I am an expert and my website has all they need to be fully informed.
Armed with the right advice, they either proceed alone or often return to their partners to help them with the actual physical measuring. By uploading photographs of their room, I can give them precise guidance. I help them/their partner with any technical questions they may have, before they buy online at their own convenience.
The days of a woman needing a man to do the DIY are clearly over! Many women are actually fitting their own shutters. It is not very difficult. Once you have the right advice you can just clip the frames together and screw through pre-drilled holes – easy! One lady was thrilled with the DIY installation advice, as she fitted the shutters as a surprise for her husband… before he got home!
One of the funniest comments left by a lady customer in reply to my website asking the reason “why had she wanted fitting advice”, she stated: “Because my husband is not the DIY god I thought he was when I married him!”
