While I specialise in DIY, not everyone realises that I offer fitted shutters in London and a wide surrounding area as well as Sussex and Hampshire and have done so for many years. In fact, I still like to get out there and fit myself on a regular basis to make sure I stay in touch with my customers and products, although I do have a number of local fitters in those areas.
While DIY means that you can save money, a fitted service is ideal for those who aren’t practical or don’t want the hassle of having to measure, order and fit themselves. I continue to offer this because by doing so I can help those who want a fitting service for ease, and can also deal with a wide range of specialised windows, for example unusually shaped windows or very large openings that need a track.
Personally, I choose to work with expert fitters, most of whom have a range of experience as shutter fitters or have come from a practical trade prior to working with me. I personally work with all of them prior to ‘letting them loose’, to make sure that they fit the standard I would expect to provide myself and can be totally confident they will provide you with professionally fitted shutters every time.
Of course I am aware that there is a range of other companies out there who offer a similar service, however, I am confident that the fitters I work with offer an excellent service. They aren’t salespeople, they will just advise and help you to find the best shutter for your home, measure accurately and then return to fit professionally for you. I prefer to work this way because if you use a salesperson to initially visit and measure, they may oversell the product, promise something that cannot be fitted, or miss measure through lack or knowledge. Experienced fitters will always know what is possible, what will work best for your windows and how they can best be fitted.
Finally, I am aware that this is not always the cheapest option as fitters usually prefer to fit wooden, rather than the cheaper alternatives when it comes to product. However, as my London fitter Rob puts it ‘price is long forgotten when quality is still being admired’, as he believes it is better to pay a little more for the quality and experience you want rather than cut costs only to find you have to re-do things, aren’t really happy or have to spend more to put things right.
