Venetian blinds are normally made to measure, this means you can provide your window sizes and the blind will be made to fit your window exactly.
They can be the perfect look for your room and give you excellent control over light and privacy.
Venetian blinds can be made from plastic, metal or aluminium and wood. The blinds opennshut can supply are wooden and are called shuttermatch. They have a venetian style with adjustable slats that are normally suspended by cords, but you can upgrade and opt for a tape option.
Difference between Venetian blinds and louvred shutters.
A venetian window blind has thin horizontal strips that hang from a headrail one above the other by cord or tape, these slats can be angled to control the amount of light coming into the room and how well you can see through the blind. The venetian slats are normally thin and flat so they can be stacked on top of each other when the blind is pulled up.
Shutters are made into panels that fit within a frame, the panels can then be hinged open to access the window and made to match the window sections. Within each shutter panel there are louvre blades, similar to the slats on a venetian blind. These louvres are normally curved and profiled so the sit neatly together when folded closed. The louvers on a shutter are operated using a centre control rod that is attached to each louvre by a small staple.
Operating shutters is easier than operating blinds as they are solid construction. Blinds can wobble around as they are hanging from a top head rail. Cleaning shutters is also much easier than a venetian blind for this reason, the gaps within the louvres are normally larger and they do not move around or flex like the thin slats of a blind.
