Our range of Elite Plus shutters are now made from certified White Teak (Previously made from Basswood). White Teak (Gmelina arborea) shutters are supplied by scraft and know as Sumatra.
White Teak is grown on the island of Kolombangara found in the Solomon islands (14330 hectares).
White Teak is very stable material, so its perfect for joinery, doors and windows and window shutters. You can find a silvery tight grain running through the wood so it provides a very smooth finish. Its a fast growing deciduous tree, its used for making musical instruments, wardrobes or cupboards as its lightweight and durable.
White Teak shutters are now the top of range, hence this is being used with our Elite Plus range. If you would like any more information on the material or you would like to see some sample shutters please get in touch.
