Fitted window shutters have become a very popular window treatment. A wooden window shutter is a wooden panel with two sides, called stiles, top and bottom rails with adjustable louvre blades or slats fitted within it which can be turned to adjust how much light comes into the room. Window shutters may be referred to as plantation window shutters or interior shutters, but they are both window shutters.
Opennshut supply a full range of shutters from wooden to plastic and vinyl shutters. These shutters can be supplied as DIY kits or we can come and measure and install the shutters for you with our professionally fitted service. Find out more about these two options by clicking one of the links below:
Window shutters are normally supplied in white to match your window, but there are options for wood stain such as Oak, Walnut or Chestnut. Custom paint colours are also available so you can match the colour of the shutters to the colour of your window or walls.
I mentioned the adjustable louvre blades, well these come in three different sizes, the choice depends on how much light you want coming into the room or how well you want to be able to see through the slats. 64mm louvres are the most popular size and suit most windows. The slats are normally adjustable but can be supplied in a fixed position too. If you need plenty of light and you are not looking to cover the whole window with shutters then also look at ordering cafe shutters. This design of shutter only covers half the window allowing plenty of light past the top of the shutters.
Opennshut also supplies exterior window shutters, but these are quite different from the interior style shutters. They protect the window from the weather and enhance the look of the property from the outside. Exterior window shutters can fit on doors as well as windows.
Throughout the website, you can find out lots of information and advice on window shutters. This includes advice on measuring, how to fit them and how to design your shutters. Each part of the shutter is explained with images showing detailed views.
